K's farewell party

So kylies going to europe for 3 months and her and kate and kim are all going so they decided to have a farewell party while they still have time. It was at kates house in st lenoards which is quite a nice place with all this asian-indo furniture and architechture. I went with greg and john and it was the first tim ein a long time that we have all gotten drunk together. I met kates friend from work, this half thai girl and her boyfriend with the cool jacket and they were really cool people, and i sat theyre talking to them for a substantial period of time. They must have liked talking to me too because they were meant to go at 11 but stayed back longer chatting to me. ;)

The bad part of the night however is that we all left the party and headed into teh cross. I myself have had not had that great an experience going to the cross and was only really willing to go if we went somewhere other than sapphires. Now as we were leaving K's friend bell was for me the most annoyingperson onthe night. This girl continually whines and complained and anything and everything.

First outside of kates house she complained about the fact that no one was getting into the car and taxi and that we were all wasting time. When she said will someone just get in the other car greg simply said yeah ok and went in the other car. Then in the taxi she was complaining that 'my friend greg has to give them some money because he had taken her free ride in the car and that he had to pay her share in the taxi'. I told her why didn't you just get in the fing car then. i stopped speaking to her after that.

Then when we got to the cross she didnt want to pay 20 bucks to get into dragonflies so we went to sapphires, waited 45 minutes out front got in and then had to pay 15 bucks anyway. So annoying.

We spent the rest of the night at sapphires which is sh!t and she ended up leaving early anyway.

The next day i was a little hungover and extremelly tired but got woken up early to go to foxtel's 10th bday at randwick racecourse. I was expecting it to be alot of adults getting drunk like at a race day but it was more like the wagga show at day time. There were a few thousand little kids running around and no one felt like drinking. They did have dodgem cars and alot of free stuff we got with our tiks. 7 bucks in food, 3 alcho drinks, 3 soft drinks. and vip access which let us in to a section that had free sandwhiches and chips and stuff like that.

There was me greg rochelle and stef. And we all got a free massage at the lifestyles section. Had a champers each which tasted like crap and then all went home tired. I was stuffed by the end of the day and prety much crashed out once i was home.

gabe 3rd week

This whole week the main whole of the crew limited down to a efficient smaller cut down team headed up to the hunter valley to film the shots needed for the bus scenes. Me and vic stayed back at bourke street and started preparing the room that was soon to become gabes loft. This room was close to perfect for the location but there was a lot of work to be done and not enough people to do it. So what happened is that e got the help of four 16 year old girls from rozeville college on work experience.

To tell you the truth we couldn't have got it done without them but these girls a rich north sydney girls and had probably never had to do anything for themselves ever. One girl had been all over the whole and yet it seemed she needed her h and to be held wth everything that she was doing. I couldnt tell her to do something and expect it to have been done and if it was then was a half arsed job anyway. So this whole week i spent babysitting these girls while trying to get this location prepped for shoot.

The location itself turned out quite amazing and looks really good. Every one is very pleased with the work done by victor and myself.

gabe 2nd week

I started the week with a 7am start, painful in my books especially since im a night person. Once again we were filming in alexandria on bourke rd. I got asked if i wanted to be an extra in the film which i didnt so i
hinted towards victor the production designer and my boss that he might need me in order to get out of the role. He didnt pick up on the hint and i ended up being a homeless bum eating soup which was really a chinese dish made from sesame seeds. The texture of the soup was a mid greg colour and looked terrible but wasnt really that bad.

so all monday i ate soup or at least pretended to.

Tusday i spent most of my time preparing the set of the exterior of the soup kitchen which is post bomb explosion. This involved me creating alot of ash for the scene and burnt wood. i didn't mind because i like playing with fire. i did get called into set to oversee the shootingof a few overlay matte shots for the explosion. I was given around 10 minutes to prepare eveything i needed to make the shot work. Im not sure if i will work but im confident well have something out of it. A little more time ould have been good but thats the way things go it seems.

wednesday i was dragged into being an extra again but it was ok this time because i managed to drag a copy of the bible over to me and i just read revelations the whole time. ahh end of the world shit so interesting.

thursday i spent most of the day running around with vic ageing walls and other little handy helper things.

Friday me and vic went to maitland in the hunter valley and prepared and aged a bus for a few scenes. Was a good road trip and had fun painting the inside of a bus with yogurt and ripping labels off botttles for 2 hours. On the way up i also sat there with a roll-a-matic and rolled over 60 cigarettes for props. Im pretty good at rolling them now. well at least with a machine.

yay fun

after the road trip i went over to adams new house and had a few beers with adam, kiwi, mog, megan, trent and cass and watch 'the great escape' and 'ong bak'. Those stunts in ong bak are amazing.

sat me grag and rochelle all went to newtown for some burgers and a movie. saw little fish, was pretty cool but it didnt end. hate it when they dont end.

animania 2005

During my first weekend of gabriel i went with tim and bec to animania festival in town hall. Was so good. I am definitely a fan but i think that with every thing you have a interest for it is always disturbing to meet people that are mroe obsessed than you. The people dressed for cosplay are fanatics. They if this was a islamic state would be the ones blowingthemselves up. But theyre not and we all just love a good animation. They do however find their favorite most compatible characters and dress up as them as well as acting out the major actions.

There were a few people that were insanely annoying over acting the characters which i believe they probably thing they think they are. Then there are the fanatical groups that meet up with other fanatics and dress as a group. One group dressed and matching couples from every final fantasy from 6-11 and all danced out the dance they do in FF8. Lame me thinks but at the same time cool. Im one of them weirdos but i just dont go that far.

I also invested in the first parts of the novels 'blade of the immortal' and 'domu'. I also got the collection of works by yoshitaka amano. great artist. we also watched a anime ive never seen being 'princess tutu' about a princess who turns into a duck when she quacks. crazy.

after animania tim and bec came over and i cooked them vegitarian noodle teriaki stir fry. a new dish for me and n.b. i stufed up the rice coz the flame went out. :( we then went over to adam and trents new house for a few drinks and to meet his new flat mates. they were pretty cool. had a good night.

cheers

n.b. i love anime

start: gabriel week 1

Wednesday after gits i got my first taste of being on a film set. I really had no idea what i was meant to be doing but i was there to help. After finding my way out to Rozelle college of arts at a nice early time of 8am i first started helping out catering by setting up a marquee. First there were no instructions and secind they were missing the vital centre piece. I got it working and then i was moved on to art dep. I had my first experience at using spray cans on walla but it didnt take me long to get the hang of it.

The first week we spent out at rozelle down in the tunnels below the art school. They used to be a passage for mental patients that werent allowed onto the kings road and could only be transported by boat along the harbor. But we found them a suitable place for filming. So all wed i spent at rozelle but half way through thurs i headed of to a new location with victor the production designer to work on more sets. We headed out to bourke rd in alexandria and started work on the soup kitchen exterior and interiors. Weve been at bourke rd until today being tuesday the end of the first week.

Ive been painting burning building moving cable bashing and even acing as a extra in the soup kitchen. Its been fun but the 12hrs are starting to get to me. Today was a slow day for me and everything i did was sluggish. Im having a great time and meeting great people along the way. cant wait for more fun filled excitement.

gits 2: innocence

Just got back from watching the opening night of reelanime at dendy on circular quay. It launched the festival of fresh anime at dendy starting with ghost in the shell 2: innocence. Ive already seen it but it definitely was good to go and see it again on a large screen. It was only me and tim and i only found out about it today. After the screening we all enjoyed complimentary japanese food including sushi rice rolls, chicken and beef sticks and battered prawns. Accompanied with the food was kishen (japanese beer), diet coke and lime, water and house white wine (no red).

good night for a tuesday out at the movies with a little bit of free food to boot.

cheers

pre gabe jst week

since mums bday ive been in sydney the whole time. Weve just gotten broadband so ive been taken over by download fever. Been getting alot of anime and mostly those that ive been wanting to see for a while but are extremely rare/ expensive in aust to get.

For the first of the last two weeks i spent half of each day pleasing centrelink with job search training. JST isnt really that bad of a course but the fact that im forced to go means its always a bad start to a day. They teach you alot about different personalities and about who you are while at the same time raising confidence in the class members and relating it back to job search. Alot of it is a crap on but some of it is interesting.

The weekend in between was revindas bday. Happy bday vin. She has a apartment in ultimo which is very convenitntly close to china town and she had a dual bday celebration with a filo friend of hers from uni, shera, if i remember correctly. The girls had made baileys dip for fruit, jelly shots and a diverse compliment of spirits and beers to help our selves to. I indulged my self in my cousins bottle of tanduay rhum which i infact brought for him from phillipines.

Kylie was up for the weekend on holidays so i invited her along as well. She came a bit too late and i left the party to get her. Once we had gotten back joel had turned the drinking up a notch and Kylie got her first experience of joels ultimate persuasion technique. Hard to resist so she got peer pressured into downing a tequila shot. I did warn you, sorry. The party ended really early around 11 because every one headed to the club, 411 or pumphouse on darling harbour. Rnb, pretty good but a bit too expensive a door fee.

We all headed there except joel who vanished with some random girl and ended up falling over and hitting his head. Oh well, maybe next time cuz. Once at the club we all partied and danced. I drank up shmirnoff blacks at 8 bucks a pop with kylie. My cousin lady came down from wagga with my sister and my mum who went to el shaddai. So it was me kylie and lady at pumphouse getting pissed. Lady came way too late and didnt know anyone so she got bored and i ended up spending the night split between entertaining my cousin lady and kylie. The next thing i know is that were the only three left and its getting late. We all left and tried to find somewhere else but ended up in maccas somehow. Lady then ups and vanishes and decided shes going to head to mt druit on her own at 3 in the morning.

Me and kylie then waited for a taxi to take her home in front of town hall for like and hour in the cold. I stupidly had left my self and entire $3.80 to get home. So after i left kylie i found my way to a nite rider bus and managed to just make it at a costly price of 3 bucks. Lucky.

The next week was similar to the last. JST training and playing age of mythology. The only difference is that i went to the ashfield trivia on wednesday with adam and his crew. Ray was down for a few days and we ended up winning the trivia. First time weve finished more than 3rd last. Had a few drinks and ended up hung over at thursdays class. Just like the old days.

Production meeting on friday night, and filming starts on wednesday. Going to be busy. Filo fest on sunday but will see if i actually end up going. not sure yet.

cheers
