stencil festival

i met up with byrnesey after running into jess downtown kings cross while i was heading home from that long pub crawl night across the city without any beer. Since i hadn't seen her in a while i had a little bit of a chat and then got anthonys details since i lost them when my phone was traded in at YU bar for two pills. (wasn't me i swear, at least i think it wasn't me)

Back to the point. Met up with anthony and headed out to the stencil festival in chippendale for my own amusement as well as to try and get some hook up details for fishbowl. The work displayed at the festival was of a diverse variety having been collected by the dealers from all across the world. Street art from Brazil to russia all mixed in with a littl ebit of aussie street art too. The quality was quite good and some of theworks quite appealing and original but htere was one small ideal that caused conflict with the whole balance of the universe thing. street art displayed in a gallery kinda defeats the purpose of it being street art.

I mean the artist and the dealers do have to make a living and you do have to spread the culture of the medium as well as promote the artists and pay rent and live the life. but its kinda not right. i walked out on the street minutes after viewing the works and a few blocks away was a perfect example of a wall that had been tagged by youths branding their personal ownership of one small piece of wall. Street art shoul djust belong on the street. I also beleive that if could make it for less than the price on the wall then i wouldn't buy it and the price was really ridiculous for the works they were displaying. i liked alot but i wouldn't pay that much.

After we left me and byrnesy met up with luke and once again indulged in happy chef. God that place is good. I just cant get over how good their soup dishes are. Im sure that once i figure out or someone tells me whats in it and how they do it i will never eat it again but for now. its just so good. Go Happy Chef!
