Fide friday @ the Hopetoun

Ive finished work for the week. it beena long but quiet week. Comparitively its probably beent he quietest week of work so far but some how the weekend didn't live up to its predecessor when it comes to quiet.

Fide, brentons band he joined more than 6 months ago who were previously know n as the wagga band scarifier. They were very pop back then and since brenton and maybe the city life has transformed them to a more poppy alternative rock group. They are too poppy for triple j and not alternative enough for fbi and not popular enough for nova. but they are good and will get up there eventually but they do have a long haul to trek.

They played at the hopetoun hotel on friday which apparently is a pretty hard gig to get. You have to be invited back as a headliner and can only get a gig there if a headliner act invited you. I was however surprised once i got to the hopetown to dicover that it is the dingies little pub ive been to in many a recent years. and ive been to many pubs in the wagga scene that are dingy as. It was howver a nice establishment once you were inside but it was a nightmare on rollerskates trying to get to the bar and back to the beer garden outside with a handfull of beers.

People in the city when theyre drunk are the rudest bastads of the lowest handfull of human lifeforms. People dont give a shit about anyone when theyre pissed and quite rudely push their way around and more often though the crowds.

The band was good and we all sat outside for beers and somehow forgot to see the other bands, oops. Got pissed on coopers with brenton and the boys, phil and greg who was down for the weekend. I met this guy there out the back who worked for animal logic. He seemed pretty cool and whe talked alot about he world and how china will eventually own the world and the book 1421 im reading at the moment. such a good read.

Before the band started we got indian just down the road at indian chilli, which might you add wasn't very chilli at all. Phils chicken tika masala wasn't all that hot and me and greg got ourselves some butterchicken. No where in sydney i have been to compares at all to the indian tandoori in wagga. They are still the best indian food ive tasted. Mind you i did work there.

So we stayed at hopetoun for a bit and once the bands had finished we walked off to some bar just down the road. Too drunk to remember but it was too packed so we went to a pub just down the road which was pretty good. It was quiet and we had a jukebox which had some cool songs on it along with the films clips. We stayed there till 2 am and well and trully pissed we cabbed it to the purple sneakers in glebe. We all got in even though we were pissed as and met that guy from animal logic again and the first thing he did was shout us all a black sambuka shot. oooh yeah. love this city some times.

Purple sneakers at first seemed like a little beer garden with a few people smashed dancing under a flood light. Then we went downstairs and the world was filled with drunken alternative people mashing out to alt/pop music. It was weird. being pissed as doesn't help much either. The band boys except for brenton and steve, greg, phillip and myself all trekked on to the 7/11 and got ourselves well and trully indulged in bad take away food. I got a sausage roll which from experience doesn't deliver as painful a blow as a meat pie does. brenton got two pies and the second one was vegie and cheese which i recall didn't agree with him soo well. Steve got himself a travellers pie which we all know is not the best of choices. Greg and phil both got shin ramyun noodles instead of the meat pie choice because i do remember me and brenton getting the last two.

As we were walking home steve and phil decided to raid the early morning newspaper stacks and dress themselves in the headline tabloid pages that they stick in those metal grates out front of their shops. They also nicked a paper or two. Phil somewhere at this point in time lost his noodles so he was down one. We walked a few blocks turned a few blocks more and out of no where this car approached and steve thought at that point in time that the best idea was to throw the conveniently placed newspaper in his right hand directly towards the moving car. The paper hits the car high onthe right passenger side and it explodes. Paper flies everywhere as the car disentegrates the sunday best. The driver slows down and as i watch eagerly a reaction i glimpse steve quiet as a mouse slip behind the corner wall of the house we were infront of only to slip away into the alley next to it. I look back and the car has slammed its breaks on as the impact reacts in his mind, hes starts reversing and the first thing i think of is "lets get the f*%k out of here" and so we bolt.

My mind races as i dream of the mario bros star invicibility song playing in my subconscience. Running and making my escape i look around and see steve graceing along in the lead fimrly safe from danger, brenton and greg equalling me in our flight to freedom and phil. where the f*&k is phil. "Oh crap i thought" and so me and greg stop. turn around and slowly walk back to where we were eagerly awaiting a troop of angry wogs ready to bash us because some drunk guy we knew threw a paper at a car as it went by. We get nearer and nearer to the corner we just nolted from, and then BAAHAM! phil walks around the corner smiling like a 8 year old school girl with a chupa chupp. Apparently the guy yells out and phil gives him a excuse along the lines of "hey wtf, man those guys were crazy and they just threw the paper at your car, then they just took off, i just met them and asked them for a smoke." ahh good shit phil, wouldda been better to just run, make life more interesting. haha, good one

crashed out at brentons place onthe fold out sofa. nice rest and nest to no sunlight coming through because we were on the second floor.
